Overview:

This session challenges the common conflation of resilience with endurance. True resilience - measured physiologically as autonomic flexibility - is the ability to mobilize under demand and then recover fully, not the ability to sustain high activation indefinitely. Leaders learn why "grit"-based resilience training often backfires, what real recovery capacity looks like, and how to build resilience practices that strengthen the recovery side of the equation, not just the push side.

Why you should Attend:

Most resilience training quietly reinforces the exact pattern that causes burnout: push through, tough it out, build more grit. But resilience isn't the capacity to endure more strain - it's the capacity to recover well and return to baseline. If your resilience strategy is really just a more sophisticated way of pushing harder, it's setting your people up to break.

Areas Covered in the Session:

  • Why resilience is not the same as endurance or grit
  • Autonomic flexibility: the real physiological marker of resilience
  • How push-harder resilience training accelerates burnout instead of preventing it
  • What genuine recovery capacity looks like, and how to build it
  • Practical recovery practices leaders can model and teach
  • Reframing resilience conversations on teams away from "toughness"

Who Will Benefit:

  • ALL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEVELS
