Overview

This is a fast-paced, hands-on introduction to using Claude effectively regardless of industry or job function. Roughly 35% of the session covers the conceptual foundation - what large language models actually are, what Claude is good and bad at, and the core mental shift from "search engine" to "thinking partner." The remaining 65% is live, practical demonstration: writing effective prompts, uploading and working with documents, using Projects to keep ongoing context, and building simple visual outputs with Artifacts - all using everyday, cross-industry examples rather than anything role-specific.

Participants leave with a one-page prompt template and a starter prompt library they can apply immediately.

Why you should Attend

Do you feel like you're using Claude (or AI generally) at maybe 10% of its real potential? Have you tried it once, gotten a mediocre answer, and quietly given up? Are you worried that colleagues who've figured out how to prompt well are quietly getting hours back every week while you're still typing questions the way you'd type into Google? In just one hour, you'll leave with a working mental model for how to talk to Claude, a reusable template for giving it context about your role, and hands-on experience with the features - documents, projects, artifacts - that separate casual users from power users.

Areas Covered in the Session

Part 1 - Foundations (?20 minutes, 35%)

  • What Claude actually is and isn't: a reasoning and writing assistant, not a search engine or a database of facts
  • The single biggest mindset shift: treating Claude like a capable new colleague who needs context, not an oracle you interrogate
  • Anatomy of a good prompt: role, context, task, format - the four ingredients that separate weak and strong results
  • What Claude is genuinely strong at vs. where to stay cautious (recent events, precise numbers, high-stakes decisions)
  • A quick look at where Claude fits versus other tools

Part 2 - Hands-On, Live Demos (?35 minutes, 65%)

  • Live demo 1: Turning a vague request into a well-structured prompt, side-by-side comparison of outputs
  • Live demo 2: Uploading a document and asking Claude to summarize, extract key points, or answer questions about it
  • Live demo 3: Using Claude for everyday writing - drafting an email, polishing a message, adjusting tone
  • Live demo 4: Setting up a Project to give Claude standing context about your role, team, or recurring task
  • Live demo 5: Building a simple visual output (chart, one-page plan, comparison table) using Artifacts - no coding required
  • Live demo 6: Iterating - how to push back on a so-so answer and steer Claude toward what you actually meant
  • Hands-on participant exercise: attendees try one prompt live in their own Claude account using a provided template
  • The context-block template: a one-page reusable block participants can paste into any conversation going forward
  • Guardrails and best practice: what to verify before trusting output, what not to paste into any AI tool

Wrap-up

  • Live Q&A (5 minutes)
  • Resources: prompt template, starter prompt library, and links to deeper follow-on sessions
