Overview
The body responds differently depending on whether a demand is appraised as a challenge (resources feel adequate) or a threat (resources feel inadequate) - and that appraisal, more than the demand itself, predicts performance, decision quality, and recovery.
This session unpacks the science of challenge versus threat appraisal and gives leaders practical tools to shift how their teams - and they themselves - experience high-pressure situations, without pretending the pressure isn't real.
Why you should Attend
Two people can face the identical deadline and have completely different physiological and performance outcomes - one rises to it while the other falls apart. The difference isn't grit. It's whether their nervous system appraised the situation as a challenge or a threat. Leaders who don't understand this distinction manage stress with a one-size-fits-all approach that helps some people and quietly sabotages others.
