Overview:

Annual and Interim Recertifications are among the most frequently reviewed areas during Management and Occupancy Reviews. This webinar provides a comprehensive review of HUD Multifamily certification requirements, including required notices, timing requirements, tenant interviews, verification standards, effective dates, EIV requirements, TRACS submission, and HOTMA changes affecting recertification processing. Participants will learn how to properly process ARs and IRs, avoid common compliance errors, maintain complete tenant files, and ensure certifications are completed accurately and on time.

Why you should Attend:

Most certification findings are not caused by complex regulations. They occur because staff miss deadlines, misunderstand notice requirements, use incorrect effective dates, or fail to properly document the file. This session teaches you how to avoid the mistakes that cost properties time, money, and compliance points. One missed reminder notice, incorrect effective date, late certification, missing signature, or improperly processed Interim Recertification can result in subsidy loss, MOR findings, repayment obligations, TRACS errors, tenant grievances, and compliance violations. If HUD reviewed your certifications tomorrow, would every file pass?

Areas Covered in the Session:

  • Understanding certification types including ARs, IRs, MIs, ICs, terminations, transfers, and gross rent changes
  • Required annual recertification notices, timelines, content requirements, and tenant notification procedures
  • Processing Interim Recertifications including tenant-reported changes, EIV-identified changes, repayment agreements, and effective dates
  • Tenant interviews, consent forms, verification requirements, and acceptable forms of verification under current rules and HOTMA
  • EIV requirements, TRACS submission timelines, vouchering requirements, and common certification processing errors
  • MOR expectations, file documentation standards, extenuating circumstances, and HOTMA changes affecting certification processing and interim reporting thresholds
